Turning the One Sheet Wonder into Two

The Two Sheet Wonder!

So I totally loved the one sheet wonder.  There is something so satisfying knowing that I'm not wasting paper, nor am I trying to store scraps because "I just love this paper!"  One thing I ran into during my first one, though is that I really liked using the wood-type paper with a few of them so I decided that I'd try to develop my own version that uses two papers so I can get the best of both worlds.  I chose two sheets of designer paper from Michael's that I fell in love with.

I started by mapping things out in a spreadsheet (because I'm THAT big of a dork!).  I began with the same layout from Joanne Mulligan that I used in my previous post.  As I plugged it in I added color coding.  This template is for the paisley paper.

Next I decided to what parts I would add the second sheet, the blue wood planks.  I mapped it out in the same fashion as well, creating a color-coded template with sizes.

My next step was to print a copy and to cut them out so I would have a sketch of the layouts I had developed from them both.  Since I don't have a color printer, I marked the different papers with a blue and pink highlighter so I could keep track of things more easily.  The blue is for sheet 1, navy paisley, and the pink is for sheet 2, blue wood planks.

From here I cut all of the pieces for each sheet, based upon the templates, and labeled the backs with their numbers.  I normally only make a couple of cards a night so I didn't want to forget something when I came back to work on another card.

Finally, it was time to get rolling and putting them together!  For the first card I pulled out a navy Simplicity trim,  VersaMark Dazzle in Frost, a Studio G stamp and die set and some Paper Studio stickers.  I love the 110lb cardstock from Michael's for my card bases so I pulled out a sheet of Storm Clouds for the base and added some of the grey from Cool Waters, and navy from Boutique Floral.  One of my new fav things with cards is to add a hint of bling so I grabbed a few Recollections gems to add.
Card #1, Two Sheet Wonder "Happy Birthday"
I loved the fun shimmer in the VersaMark Frost

For my second card I pulled out my Heartfelt Thanks and Sincere Salutations stamp sets from Stampin' Up.  I love the stamps in Heartfelt Thanks, especially when I'm making a background image.  I used Memento Paris Dusk ink to create a background by stamping off first, then used it to ink the sentiment as well.

Card #2, Two Sheet Wonder - "Birthday Wishes"

Card #3 adds in blue from the Blue Skies cardstock pack.  This time I used the Better Together set from Stampin' Up for the sentiment and added a fun gem flower that I found at Michael's.
Card #3, Two Sheet Wonder - "Happy Birthday"

Finally, for card #4, I pulled out my Punch Bunch set from Stampin' up to create the sentiment and once again used Heartfelt Thanks to stamp a background image.  I used grey cardstock from both Cool Waters and Storm Clouds.
Card #4, Two Sheet Wonder - "HB Happy Birthday"

That's it!  Four cards in set #1!

I'm entering into a couple wonderful card challenges.  Be sure to check these out!

Decided it was time to clear out some of my cards so I participated in a couple of craft shows with my dear friend,  Karen.  She makes awes...
