Paper Pumpkin Fun - Hugs from Shelli

Hello!  What a beautiful weekend!  This weekend I was able to enjoy spending time with my family for a late Mother's Day and an early Father's Day.  I used a few cards that I had made in advance to celebrate  today.

My Mother's Day card was from a group of cards that I made as part of my first 6x6 paper pad challenge.  I used the following sketch from Robin's Craft Room.
I started with some 110lb cardstock in rose petal.  (Have I mentioned how much I love 110lb cardstock? 😁)  I used three different designer papers from Bo Bunny's Madelaine paper pad and added some awesome paper flowers and trim.  I adore this paper flowers from Recollections!  Finally, I used Teeny Tiny Wishes from Stampin' Up to stamp my sentiment.  I tried it both with a popped sentiment and a flat one.  Which one do you like better?
Happy Mother's Day Cards

For my Father's Day card I just had to use these super, cool laser cuts.  I love owls so these were def a win-win!  I used another sheet from the Bo Bunny paper pad for the background and to decorate the inside.  To create a branch to perch the owl on, I used my Fiskers Sunflower paper trimmers.  I pulled out one of my all time favorite stamp sets called Chubby Chums from Paper Smooches to carry the owl theme inside.  That stamp set is so stinkin' adorable!  I added a few gems and another sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes again to finish it.

Happy Father's Day Card

Everyone seemed to love their cards and after a long, but great day, it was time for some "me time"!  Time to break open my latest Paper Pumpkin box, Hugs from Shelli.  Such a wonderful set of items!  The original card designs are fantastic, but I knew I had to see what other cards I could make from them.

I started with a sketch from Freshly Made Sketches challenge #390.

I used one of the provided decorative card bases and cut it down to make the main card front.  Next I took a piece of Petal Pink variegated ribbon and ran it down the side.  I stamped the frame from Floral Frames (Stampin' Up) in Memento Tuxedo Black and then used Old Olive for the sentiment.   I wanted to pull in some of the colors from the paper so I used my watercolor brush to paint Petal Pink, Powdered Pink and Old Olive on the flowers and stems then fussy cut the frame out.  I cut out leaves using the Foliage Frames framelits (Stampin' Up) and added them below the popped sentiment.  I added a small amount of lines using some of my Stampin' Write and Marvy markers.

Finally I had to add some bling and sparkle because...just because I love it!

That's it!  Here's the final card:

  1. Really cool how you framed the sentiment with a ring of flowers. A different and fresh touch to a frame. Thanks for sharing it with us at Double D "Frames" Challenge.

Decided it was time to clear out some of my cards so I participated in a couple of craft shows with my dear friend,  Karen.  She makes awes...
